One of the hardest parts of maintaining a healthy lifestyle is fighting off your cravings. Even when you do give in, it is important not to give up! One or two slip ups aren't going to ruin your progress, but it is much easier when you have techniques to fight off the junk food cravings.

- Drink a lot of water. Sometimes when you think you are hungry, you are really just thirsty. Before pigging out and snacking, try to drink some water and see if that is the problem.
- You eat when you're bored, so go do something! Go on a walk, read a book, get some work done; distract yourself when you are really feeling those cravings coming on.
- Try not to eat while watching TV. You eat way more than usual when you do this and aren't as aware of how much you are eating, so try and steer clear of this habit.
- If you have that one thing that you just can't live without, only eat it as a reward.
- When you are trying to maintain a healthier diet don't focus on what you can't have. Think about all of the yummy things you still can't have! If you are craving something really bad, try to find ways to make it healthier.
- If you are really trying to change your eating habits, don't just quit cold turkey; just cut down. You will be way more likely to relapse back into old habits this way. Ease into it until eating healthy becomes a habit.
- Collect your wrappers or keep a food journal. This will keep you more aware of what you are consuming and make you think twice before eating that cookie.
- Think about your goals when you feel like giving in. Are those few minutes of eating something bad worth losing sight of your goals?
- Give up artificial sweeteners. Not only are they poison, but they are extremely addictive. Once you stop consuming them you will stop craving them.
- EAT! You need to eat throughout the day to keep up your metabolism, but you also will be a lot more likely to give in on an empty stomach.
